Since version 4 of edit-on Pro only the Sun JRE 1.4.2 or later is required, as various new features, especially accessibility according to the guildelines of the W3C WAI and section 508, require methods which are only included in the latest version of the Sun JRE 1.4.2 (Java Runtime Environment) or later.

Additionally, the latest JRE improves the performance and stability of the applet in comparison to older versions.
