Upgrade to edit-on Pro 5 from edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x (for customers with a valid upgrade subscription only)

If you have a valid edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription, you may upgrade to edit-on Pro 5 free of charge. Upgrading to edit-on Pro 5 has certain licensing implications which you should carefully consider before upgrading.

Upgrade Conditions: With the upgrade to edit-on Pro 5, the customer resp. licensee may no longer use edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x. The edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x license and the right to use it terminates by upgrading to edit-on Pro 5. The customer resp. licensee declares and warrants that he has entirely removed the edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x software from his systems and computers in accordance with the related Software License Agreement. RealObjects will not provide further support, or process changes of license keys (e.g. add/remove server names and IPs) for an edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x license already upgraded to edit-on Pro 5. It is not possible to downgrade again to edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x.

We highly recommend to do the upgrade in two steps.
In the 1st step please request a free edit-on Pro 5 trial package in order to integrate and test it within your web environment. By using the trial license key please make sure to successfully integrate edit-on Pro 5 into your application and make sure you and your end-users feel comfortable with the new version of the editor. In the 2nd step please request the upgrade as indicated below.

To better clarify what this means, here are some Q&A about the upgrade to edit-on Pro 5. Please read this carefully:

Q: After requesting an upgrade to edit-on Pro 5, can I still use edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x, as I still have the edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x licensekey?
A: No, by requesting the upgrade of your license to edit-on Pro 5, your edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x license terminates completely, prohibiting you from using the former version together with edit-on Pro 5. Following your upgrade, RealObjects will not provide technical support for edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x, or process any license key change requests.

Q: I have upgraded to edit-on Pro 5. Can I now sell my edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x license?
A: No, by requesting the upgrade of your license to edit-on Pro 5, your edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x license has terminated completely, and it is not possible to sell or transfer it.

Q: Does my 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription terminate when I upgrade to edit-on Pro 5?
A: No, the period of the 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription is not at all affected. You are automatically upgraded to a 1-Year Support & Maintenance Pack for edit-on Pro 5.

Q: Is my 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription extended for one more year when I upgrade to edit-on Pro 5?
A: No, but you have the choice to renew your subscription past your current expiry date at extra cost. Please see our website for more details.

Q: I have upgraded to edit-on Pro 5 but because of certain reasons I want to go back to edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x. Is downgrading possible?
A: Sorry, but it is not possible to go back to edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x/4.x after you have already requested a license upgrade. Therefore, please make sure to successfully integrate edit-on Pro 5 into your system solution, and to make sure that you feel comfortable with the new technology before requesting an upgrade. To integrate edit-on Pro 5, and to test it within your web environment, please request a free evaluation license key.

Q: Is edit-on Pro 5 100% compatible with edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x, and am I able to simply overwrite my existing integration with edit-on Pro 5?
A: Because edit-on Pro 5 contains many changes and new features compared to the 2.x/3.x version, it is not 100% compatible with edit-on Pro 2.x/3.x, and it is generally not possible to simply overwrite the existing integration. Moving to edit-on Pro 5 may involve substantial changes to your integration and to the data in your system. Please keep also in mind that the edit-on Pro 5 system requirements (e.g. Java VM, browsers supported) are different from those of edit-on Pro 3.x or edit-on Pro 2.x. However, edit-on Pro 5 simplifies the usage of almost all legacy content by providing an integrated conversion mechanism based on W3C's HTML TIDY technology. Therefore, please make sure to successfully integrate edit-on Pro 5 into your application and make sure you and your end-users feel comfortable with the new editor before requesting the upgrade. To integrate and test it within your web environment, please request a free evaluation license key.
