If you have a valid PDFreactor 1.x/2.x 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription, you may upgrade to PDFreactor 3 free of charge. Upgrading to PDFreactor 3 has certain licensing implications which you should carefully consider before upgrading.
Upgrade Conditions: With the upgrade to PDFreactor 3, the customer may no longer use PDFreactor 1.x/2.x. The PDFreactor 1.x/2.x license and the right to use it terminates by upgrading to PDFreactor 3. The customer declares and warrants that he/she has entirely removed the PDFreactor 1.x/2.x software previously licensed to them for use under the terms of the Software License Agreement. RealObjects will not provide further support for a PDFreactor 1.x/2.x license already upgraded to PDFreactor 3. It is not possible to downgrade again to PDFreactor 1.x/2.x. |
We highly recommend to do the upgrade in two steps. In the 1st step please download a free PDFreactor 3 trial package in order to integrate and test it within your web environment. By using the trial package please make sure to successfully integrate PDFreactor 3 into your application and make sure you and your end-users feel comfortable with the new version of PDFreactor. In the 2nd step please request the upgrade as indicated below.
To better clarify what this means, here are some Q&A about the upgrade to PDFreactor 3. Please read this carefully:
Q: After requesting an upgrade to PDFreactor 3, can I still use PDFreactor 1.x/2.x, as I still have the PDFreactor 1.x/2.x licensekey?
A: No, by requesting the upgrade of your license to PDFreactor 3, your PDFreactor 1.x/2.x license terminates completely, prohibiting you from using the former version together with PDFreactor 3. Following your upgrade, RealObjects will not provide technical support for PDFreactor 1.x/2.x.
Q: I have upgraded to PDFreactor 3. Can I now sell my PDFreactor 1.x/2.x license?
A: No, by requesting the upgrade of your license to PDFreactor 3, your PDFreactor 1.x/2.x license has terminated completely, and it is not possible to sell or transfer it.
Q: Does my 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription terminate when I upgrade to PDFreactor 3?
A: No, the period of the 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription is not at all affected. You are automatically upgraded to a 1-Year Support & Maintenance Pack for PDFreactor 3.
Q: Is my 1-Year Support & Maintenance subscription extended for one more year when I upgrade to PDFreactor 3?
A: No, but you have the choice to renew your subscription past your current expiry date at extra cost. Please see our website for more details.
Q: I have upgraded to PDFreactor 3 but because of certain reasons I want to go back to PDFreactor 1.x/2.x. Is downgrading possible?
A: Sorry, but it is not possible to go back to PDFreactor 1.x/2.x after you have already requested a license upgrade. Therefore, please make sure to successfully integrate PDFreactor 3 into your system solution, and to make sure that you feel comfortable with the new technology before requesting an upgrade. To integrate PDFreactor 3, and to test it within your web environment, please download a free evaluation version.
Q: Is PDFreactor 3 100% compatible with PDFreactor 2.x, and am I able to simply overwrite my existing integration with PDFreactor 3?
A: Updating to PDFreactor 3 is easy. This new release is binary compatible with PDFreactor 2 releases. In general, it is not necessary to change anything in your integration code. If you are updating an existing copy, be careful if you have customized any files. Be sure to make a backup copy of your previous installation folder. In general you should overwrite all old files with the newer version and then manually reintroduce any changes afterwards.
