edit-on JavaBean SDK
Get an exciting "off-the-shelf" WYSIWYG editor component

The edit-on JavaBean SDK offers the same XHTML/XML editing functionality and features as the edit-on Pro Applet. For additional information about this new JavaBean, please review the edit-on Pro Features section. The SDK consists of following parts:

  • Swing version of the editor, based on the proven Core Editor Component* which is also used in the edit-on Pro Java Applet.
  • Comprehensive integration manual (PDF).
  • Standard JavaDoc API Documentation.
  • Swing sample application including source code demonstrating the integration and customization of the editor in different environments.
  • Build script for compiling, packaging and running the Swing sample application using Apache Ant.

* RealObjects does not use Sun's Swing-JEditorPane control for the edit-on Pro JavaBean and Applet. The Core Editor Component was developed entirely by RealObjects. This allows us to quickly follow industry trends and customer demands.

General structure

The following block diagram shows the general structure of the edit-on JavaBean SDK. The editor is based on two kind of elements. Core elements (Core Editor Component + Popups + Status Bar + Scroll Bar) which can not be modified, and elements that can be overwritten by the developer through a well documented API.
